Registration Process

İÜYÖS-2017 Registration Dates: 21 August 2017, Monday – 25 August 2017 Friday
Required Documents for Registration
a)     The original copy of high school diploma or temporary certificate of graduation and a copy in Turkish; notarized or officially approved by Turkish External Representatives.
b)     The original copy of diploma equivalency taken from the Provincial Directorates of Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education or Turkish External Representatives.
(Candidate students who have been applied to Provincial Directorate of National Education in Turkey and could not get the diploma equivalency between registration dates can be registered conditionally if they have a registration/application document given by the Provincial Directorate of National Education in Turkey.
Students must submit their diploma equivalency to the student affairs office of the related department of Istanbul University within 60 days of the enrollment date. Otherwise their enrollment will be cancelled.)
c)      The officially approved transcript of the high school stating the high school courses, grades and grade point average of the student and a copy in Turkish; notarized or approved by Turkish External Representatives.
d)     Those who have TRNC citizenship, residing in TRNC, completed secondary education at TRNC high schools and have obtained GCE AL degree and those who have or will have GCE AL degrees after registering in the colleges or high schools in other countries between 2005 and 2010 should provide an original copy of GRE AL exam result certificate and a copy in Turkish; notarized or approved by Turkish External Representatives.
e)     A printed copy of İÜYÖS result document,
f)     The copy of pages of the passport including the visa, identity information and time of validity and a copy in Turkish; notarized or approved by Turkish External Representatives.
g)     If available, copy of an internationally recognized Foreign Language Certificate and Turkish Language Proficiency Certificate, in Turkish; notarized or approved by Turkish External Representatives.
h)    Residence Document (should be given to the Student Affairs Office of the related department in one month after registration.)
ı)    8 photos 4,5 x 6,0 in size (front view and taken in the last 6 months enabling the applicant to be clearly recognized).
i)    Bank receipt of the tuition fee payment
j)   Signed Financial Guarantee Document. Please CLICK.
k)  A copy of identity register for dual citizenship holders if foreign at birth and acquired a Turkish citizenship.

- The registration of students who submit falsified, counterfeit, incomplete or incorrect documents for application, placement and/or registration, will be annulled even if final registration was     done.

- International students of the Faculty of Open and Distance Education are not required to obtain a residence document/permit.
- The registered foreign or overseas students may have general health insurance if they apply apply and pay for general health insurance premiums in three (3) months after the registration.      For the general health insurance, apply to the Social Security Institution (SGK) in Istanbul.
- Registrations are done by the student affairs office of related units (Faculty/School) on 21 August 2017, Monday through 25 August 2017, Friday. CLICK for the address of the related units (Faculty/Vocational School).
- Candidates lose registration right unless registered within the registration period.
- Those candidates who have been placed in a program of Istanbul University, but failed/unable to being registered can not apply to any program during the second preferences/placement.
- The İÜYÖS exam result is valid for one (1) year for Istanbul University. Therefore the candidates can not use their score for the next year to apply for programs in Istanbul University.
- Istanbul University does not accept any other result of International Student Exam (YÖS) carried out by different institutions for higher education other than İÜYÖS in order to apply for its programs.

Below are the required Turkish proficiency documents and levels for the candidates who are accepted to associate and bachelor degree programmes to start their education:

 

  1. Achievement of the Turkish Proficiency Exam given by Istanbul University Department of Foreign Languages at the beginning of the academic year
  2. Istanbul University Language Center Turkish Proficiency Document
  3. Turkish Proficiency Document from the Turkish Language Teaching Research and Application Centers of the Universities.
  4. Turkish Proficiency Documents given by Yunus Emre Institutions.

 

The Turkish Language Proficiency levels of the applicants:

  1. (C1 and C2) Level: Applicant’s Turkish level is adequate. S/he can be placed into the program which s/he has obtained the right to attend.
  2. (B1 and B2) Level: Applicant’s Turkish level is inadequate but can be improved. S/he can be placed into the program which s/he has obtained the right to attend, on the condition that s/he attends a Turkish language course. The student must certify that s/he has improved his or her Turkish level to (A) level before the beginning of the 3rd academic year. At the end of this period, those who still have (B) level in Turkish cannot continue receiving education unless they improve their level of Turkish to (A).
  3. (A1 and A2) Level: Applicant’s Turkish level is not adequate and s/he must take a Turkish course. Those who are in this state must certify that s/he has increased his or her Turkish proficiency level to (A) or (B) level before the beginning of the 3rdacademic year at the latest. The first subsection of this paragraph is applicable for those who have improved their level to (A), whereas the second subsection of this paragraph is applicable for those who have improved their level to (B).

Special Talent Exam for the Istanbul University State Conservatory

    Preferences for the programs in Faculty of Sport Sciences and Istanbul University State Conservatory which admit students by Special Talent Exam should also be submitted between 19 June and 03 July 2017.

    1) ÜYÖS score, order of preference and number of students accepted into a single program from the same country are the criteria taken into consideration in the selection process. The number of students who will be given the right to enrol into a certain program cannot exceed 20 % the total quota of that certain program.

    If there is a tie in the selection process among the candidate students the youngest candidate(s) will be given priority.

    (2) Special talent exam score, order of preference and number of students accepted into a single special talent program from the same country are the criteria taken into consideration during the selection process and placement of the candidate students applied to the special talent exams already holding the minimum standard score required to become eligible to apply to the programs admitted by special talent exam. The number of students who will be given the right to enrol into a certain program cannot exceed 20 % the total quota of that certain program.

    If there is a tie in the selection process among the candidate students the youngest candidate(s) will be given priority.

    ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE PLACEMENT RESULTS

    Candidate students can learn the placement results at http://yos.istanbul.edu.tr by login with their applicant numbers and passwords on 10 July 2017.
    “Acceptance Letters” will be posted to the addresses in the
    ÜYÖS application form of those students who are finally accepted to enrol to Istanbul University. It is also possible for those accepted students to get a digital copy of their acceptance letters via http://yos.istanbul.edu.tr by login with their applicant numbers and passwords
